Historical background

TROAS - CEBRENE

(5th - 4th century BC)

Cebren or Kebren was a city state located inland between Ilion and Antandros. The city was abandoned by its inhabitants at the end of the 4th century in order to go and found Alexandria of Troas in 310 BC at the instigation of Antigone le Borgne. As for the city of Cebren, it was renamed Antiocheia in honor of Antiochus I, Seleucid king.
