Commentary

Double frappe au droit sur le visage. Ce type semble lourd et appartient à une série plus ancienne chronologiquement. Semble plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.
Double strike to the obverse of the face. This type appears heavy and belongs to a chronologically older series. Appears rarer than general works suggest.

Historical background

THESSALY - PHALANNA

(4th - 3rd century BC)

Phalanna (Perrhaebia) was located about ten kilometers from Larissa on the left bank of the Peneios. Originally occupied by the Perrhaebi, the territory extended between Mount Olympus and Peneios. The coinage is small and seems to have been struck between 400 and 344 BC..
