Theodosius I, of Spanish origin, is the son of General Theodosius in 375 runs. After the death of Valens at Adrianople in 378, Gratian chose him to assist him. Theodosius I, became august 379, managed to restore the unity of the Roman empire. He must face the usurpation of Magnus Maximus between 383 and 388 and that of Eugene 392-394. In 394, the Empire was reunited for the first time in thirty years. At his death, his legacy will be divided between his two son, Honorius and Arcadius for the West to the East.
