Commentary

Historical background

CZECHOSLOVAKIA - REPUBLIC

(1918-1939)

Czechoslovakia is a creation of the First World War and the treaties of Versailles and St. Germain from Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia, territories that were part of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Independence is proclaimed October 28, 1918. First governed by Masaryk and Benes by finally by Hacha, Czechoslovakia broke in 1938 after the signing of the Munich Agreement (September 29-30). Czechoslovakia disappeared March 15, 1939 when Slovakia became independent and the Czech Republic falls under the Nazi boot with the pompous name of "Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia". Czechoslovakia, reconstituted under the Soviet boot after the fall of Nazism, is now leaking again, but by the will of the people, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
