Historical background

SYRIA - Seleucid Kingdom - Seleucus VI NICATOR

(97-94 BC)

Seleucus Nicator VI is the son of Antiochus VIII Grypus. After the assassination of his father in 96 BC, he formed an army and marched on Antioch Cilicia and took it over Antiochus IX Cyzicenus. The city was finally taken over by Antiochus X, the son of Seleucus VI Cyzicenus and fled Mopsus where he died in 94 BC, murdered or committed suicide. His two surviving brothers, Antiochus XI and Philip Philadelphus, continued the struggle.
