Exemplaire sur un flan large, bien centré, avec le grènetis visible au droit. Très belle tête expressive de Séleucus II. Revers bien venu à la frappe, finement détaillé. Patine grise superficielle

Obverse description : Tête diadémée de Séleucus II à droite ; grènetis circulaire perlé.


Reverse description : Apollon, nu debout à gauche appuyé du coude gauche sur le trépied, tenant une flèche de la main droite ; dans le champ à gauche et à droite, un monogramme.
Reverse legend : BASILEWS/ SE-LEUKOU/ (Xu).
Reverse translation : (du roi Séleucus).


Nous n’avons pas relevé d’identité de coin pertinente. Le second monogramme dans le champ inférieur droit, n’est pas visible.

(246-226 BC)

Seleucus II, the eldest of Antiochus II and Laodice son, ascended the throne in the same year that Ptolemy III in 246 BC, which coincides with the beginning of the third war in Syria. The Ptolemies and Seleucids between peace is signed this year. Seleucus II, beaten by his brother at Ancyra in 239 BC, in 231 began a campaign against the Parthians and died in 226 BC, the victim of a fall from his horse after a reign of twenty insignificant years.
