Obverse description : Tête d'Héraklès à droite, coiffée de la léonté, nouée sous le cou ; grènetis circulaire perlé.


Reverse description : Zeus aétophore assis à gauche sur un siège avec dossier, les jambes croisées, nu jusqu'à la ceinture, tenant un aigle posé sur sa main droite et un long sceptre bouleté de la gauche ; dans le champ à gauche, un monogramme placé au-dessus d’une ancre renversée ; lettre sous le trône ; grènetis circulaire perlé.
Reverse legend : BASILEWS/ ALEXANDROU/ (PAU)/ G.
Reverse translation : (du roi Alexandre).


Ce type était attribué par M. Price à l’atelier d’Arados, Phénicie. A.Houghton le donne quant à lui à Babylone.

Coining the name and type of Alexander - Satrap (323-305)

Seleucus I (355-280 BC), one of the lieutenants of Alexander arrived in 323 BC in Babylon.
