Médaille, sans poinçon, signée AK sous le buste.
Un exemplaire du même type, mais de moins bonne conservation, est référencée sous le n° 251981 du Musée Pushkin.

Charles XII ou Carl de Suède (Suédois: Karl XII, latinisé en Carolus Rex, Turc: Demirbaş Şarl signifiant Charles l'Habitué), né le 27 juin (17 juin) 1682 et mort le 11 décembre (30 novembre) 1718, fut le roi de l'Empire suédois de 1697 à 1718. Charles fut le seul fils survivant du roi Charles XI de Suède et d'Ulrique-Éléonore de Danemark. Il exerça son pouvoir après sept mois de régence, à l'âge de quinze ans.
En 1700, une triple alliance réunissant le Royaume de Danemark-Norvège, la Saxe-Pologne-Lituanie et la Russie lança trois attaques simultanées, la première visant le protectorat suédois de Holstein-Gottorp, la seconde la province de Livonie suédoise et la troisième visant l'Ingrie, dans le but de tirer avantage du fait que la Suède était gouvernée par un jeune roi inexpérimenté et isolé, marquant ainsi le début de la Grande Guerre du Nord. Dirigeant l'exceptionnelle armée suédoise contre l'alliance, Charles éjecta de la coalition le Danemark et la Pologne-Lituanie dès 1706, la Russie demeurant la seule puissance faisant face à Charles XII.

Charles XII (06/17/1682-12/11/1718), the son of Charles XI and Ulric of Denmark, succeeded his father in 1697. King at the age of 15, he proved to be a brilliant tactician in war of the North who will oppose him to Tsar Peter the Great. Charles XII first beat the Danes in Copenhagen, then the Russians in Narva on November 30, 1700. He took Warsaw in 1702, ravaged the Baltic States and then installed Stanislas Leszczynski as King of Poland in 1703, but he had to flee the next year. Charles XII was defeated at Poltava in 1709 and took refuge in Türkiye. He was killed in 1718 trying to reconquer Norway. His sister Ulrique-Éléonore succeeded him.
