Commentary

Historical background

SWITZERLAND - BERNE

(1816-1819)

Switzerland was tucked into the French orbit since 1799 after the defeat against Zürich Souvarov. System Republic "Sister" was imposed on Cantons Geneva and was annexed to France. The Swiss Confederation left the French alliance in 1813 and regained its independence and freedom cantons. Before and during the Revolution, Switzerland had been inundated with crowns of six books which circulated freely in most cantons. The cantons of Bern and Vaud decided countermark these crowns and give them equivalent in local batzen. In Bern, crowns were stamped 40 batzen frank or 4, corresponding to the shield of the Helvetic cantons or. Berne, who had been a military post since 1191 before becoming an imperial city received the right to mint coins in 1218 and entered Confederation in 1353. The crowns were countermarks only 39 batzen in the canton of Vaud. All ECU countermarks were consistent with the Edict of Marly 1726. We can meet the guy with olive branches (Dy. 1675 - Dr. 552 and 552A), type the headband (Dy. 1680 - Dr. 557 and 557A), type the old head (Dy. 1685 - Dr. 562 and 562A) for Louis XV. Louis XVI, type the olive branches (Dy. 1708 - Dr. 606 and 606A and R. 8/9) and the revolutionary period, the ECU type Genie Francis or French (R. 46 and 47) and 6 pounds Françoise kind or undated (R. 78 and 80). The type of 6 books French engineering type has never met and the ECU Engineering Strasbourg is unique parts of the revolutionary period are still rarer. In total, more than one million pieces were counterstained and.
