Commentary

Notons que le Quinquet dont il est question est bien celui, Antoine (1745-1803), qui a donné son nom à la langue française pour désigner les yeux et des éclairages. Pharmacien de son état, il s’associa avec Ami Argand, né à Genève le 5 juillet 1750 et mort à Londres le 14 octobre 1803, un physicien et chimiste suisse qui inventa la lampe que Quinquet nomma.
