SICILY - KINGDOM OF SICILY - TANCRED

(1190-1194)

Tancred was Roger's natural son. He was crowned by the Norman nobility in 1190 to counter the hegemonic aims of Emperor Henry VI who was seeking the crown in the name of his wife Constance. Henry VI triumphed over his adversary and was crowned in 1194.
