He was born on September 14, 1632 in Turin. He is the eldest son of Victor-Amédée I and Marie-Christine de Bourbon. He succeeded his father in 1637, when he was only five years old. A period of regency began under the authority of his mother. He died on October 4, 1638 in Turin, at the castle of Valentino, when he was only six years old..
