François-Hyacinthe was born on September 14, 1632 in Turin, Piedmont. He is the son of Victor-Amédée I, Duke of Savoy and Prince of Piedmont, and Christine of France. He succeeded his father at the age of five. His mother then became regent of the duchy. He died after a year of reign on October 4, 1638 following a fall..
