SAVOY - DUCHY OF SAVOY - CHARLES-EMMANUEL III

(1730-1773)

Charles-Emmanuel III was born on April 27, 1701 from the union of Victor-Amédée II and Anne d'Orléans. In 1722, he married Christine Louise of Bavaria-Sulzbach who died on March 18, 1723. He married in second marriage Polyxene of Hesse. In 1730, he acceded to the throne of Savoy after the abdication of his father. He allied with the French in 1733 during the War of Succession. On January 13, 1735, his second wife died and he married for the third time, on April 1, 1737, Thérèse Élisabeth de Lorraine who died four years later. He died in Turin in 1773, aged 72..
