Ce denier est frappé sur un flan très large et régulier, légèrement voilé. Exemplaire recouvert d’une patine grise de médaillier

Commentary

Type monétaire particulièrement rare et spectaculaire avec la représentation de la tête de saint Martin sur une monnaie double de l’inscription CAPVT [S]CI MARTINVS. La tête est mieux formé que sur l’exemplaire proposé dans à la vente par CGB sous le n° bfe_486505 annonçant les séries dites “bléso-chartraines”. Le corps de Saint-Martin avait en effet été enterré dans la crypte de Saint-Martin de Tours et donna lieu à un important pélerinage. Des très rares deniers avec la tête à droite de saint Martin et l’inscription SM sont également connus.
