Ruteni (Rodez Region)

(First century BC)

Neighbors Arverni of Cadurques and Gabales their territory corresponded to former Rouergue (Aveyron current) north of the Tarn, whose course was the border with the province of Narbonne. Ruteni allies of the Arverni, had participated in the operations that led to the defeat of Bituitus king of the Arverni in 121 BC and the creation of the province of Narbonne. On this occasion, Ruteni were found cut in half, following the natural border of the Tarn.
