Commentary

Russian novodels are re-strikes of existing Russian coin types. With their meticulous striking quality, they differ from the original strikes in their style and the treatment of the blanks used. These are always very small mintages, highly sought after and appreciated by collectors. This coin reproduces the original ruble struck in 1725 with variations of the obverse legend, in the imperial titulary. The edge is not inscribed but coordinated. The style of the engraving is very particular and differs from the original rubles in the treatment of the bust and the eagle.
