Historical background

ROMAN IV DIOGENES

(1/01/1068-19/08/1071)

Dying May 21, 1067, Constantine X Ducas left a wife, Eudocia, and three son, Michael VII, Constantius and Andronicus. Eudocia was regent from late May to late December 1067 and married Romanus IV on 1 January 1068. Unfortunately, the Emperor was captured fighting against the Turks in 1071. Eudocia was again regent for four months before going into exile. Michel reigned alone until 1078.
