The years following the end of the Second Punic War were marked by the conflict between Rome and Antiochus III the Great, king of Syria, and Philip V of Macedonia. Antiochus suffered several checks in Greece at Thermopylae and at sea at Corcyra before being crushed at Magnesia in 190 AC In Italy, after their victory over the Boii, Piacenza and Cremona were repopulated by Roman colonists and in 189 AC, the Roman colony of Bononia (Bologna) is founded.
