PROVENCE - COUNTY OF PROVENCE - LOUIS OF PROVENCE

(1384-1417)

Louis II (1377-1417) is the son of Louis I of Anjou (1339-1384). He is Count of Provence and Forcalquier, King of Naples, Jerusalem and Sicily in title and Count of Anjou. His father died fighting to try to recover the kingdom of Naples and, while Louis II will also try to reconquer it, his mother, Marie de Blois (+1404), governs Provence. Louis II marries Yolande d'Aragon (1380-1443) but dies in Angers at forty.
