(1246-1285)

Charles (1226-1285) is the last son of Louis VIII and Blanche de Castille. He married Béatrice in 1246, the daughter of Raymond Béranger V of Provence. He is count of Anjou, Maine and Provence (1246-1285), king of Sicily and Naples (1266-1285), titular king of Jerusalem (1277-1285). He lost Sicily in 1282 after the Sicilian Vespers which saw the house of Aragon impose itself on the island after the massacre of the French.
