Coments on the condition:
Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour une imitation sur un petit flan ovale et irrégulier, un peu court sur les légendes. Très beau portrait de Postume, légèrement stylisé. Revers fantastique où tous les détails du drapé de la Providence sont visibles. Jolie patine gris foncé avec des reflets métalliques dorés. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Reverse description : Providentia (la Providence) drapée, debout de face regardant à gauche, tenant un globe de la main droite et un sceptre transversal de la gauche.
Reverse translation : “Providentia Augusti”, (La Providence de l'auguste).

Commentary


Imitation de très bon style. Avec l’intégralité de son argenture superficielle. Rubans de type 3. Les Ptéryges sont invisibles sous le paludamentum.

Postume seizes the purple by eliminating Salonin, son of Gallien, of whom he had custody. He reigns over Gaul, Brittany and Spain. Did Postume toy with the idea of conquering the Roman Empire? Gallien, twice, will try to reconquer the "pars occidentalis" of the Empire, without success. Postume will remain in power for nine years, before perishing assassinated for having refused the sack of Mainz, a city which supported Lélien.
