Obverse description : Buste casqué et cuirassé à gauche de Postume, avec bouclier et haste sur l’épaule droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (E*3).
Obverse translation : “Virtus Postumi augusti”, (La Virilité de l’auguste Postume).

Reverse legend : P M TR P CO-S II P P/ S|C.
Reverse description : Virtus (la Virilité) debout à gauche, tenant un globe de la main droite et une longue haste pointée vers le haut de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Pontifex Maximus Tribunicia Potestate Consul iterum Pater Patriæ”, (Grand pontife, revêtu de la puissance tribunitienne, consul pour la deuxième fois, père de la patrie).

POSTUMUS

Postume seizes the purple by eliminating Salonin, son of Gallien, of whom he had custody. He reigns over Gaul, Brittany and Spain. Did Postume toy with the idea of conquering the Roman Empire? Gallien, twice, will try to reconquer the "pars occidentalis" of the Empire, without success. Postume will remain in power for nine years, before perishing assassinated for having refused the sack of Mainz, a city which supported Lélien.
