Exemplaire sur un flan ovale et irrégulier. Joli buste inhabituel de l’empereur à l’usure régulière. Beau revers bien venu à la frappe. Fine patine grise

Obverse description : Buste radié de Postume à gauche, en nudité héroïque, avec la léonté sur l'épaule gauche et tenant la massue de la main droite (G1).
Obverse translation : “Postumus Augustus”, (Postume Auguste).
Reverse
Reverse legend : PA-X - AVG.
Reverse description : Pax (la Paix) drapée, debout à gauche, brandissant une branche d'olivier de la main droite et tenant un sceptre transversal de la gauche.
Reverse translation : “Pax Augusti”, (La Paix de l'Auguste).
Commentary
Poids léger. Monnaie exceptionnelle du règne de Postume avec un buste herculéen.

POSTUMUS

Postume seizes the purple by eliminating Salonin, son of Gallien, of whom he had custody. He reigns over Gaul, Brittany and Spain. Did Postume toy with the idea of conquering the Roman Empire? Gallien, twice, will try to reconquer the "pars occidentalis" of the Empire, without success. Postume will remain in power for nine years, before perishing assassinated for having refused the sack of Mainz, a city which supported Lélien.
