Portrait légèrement stylisé. Flan taché au revers Faiblesse de frappe sur la légende avec un flan un peu court

Obverse description : Buste radié, drapé et cuirassé de Postume à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Postumus Pius Felix Augustus”, (L’empereur césar Postume pieux heureux auguste).

Reverse legend : MAPTI PPOPV[GNATORI] (SIC !).
Reverse description : Mars ou Postume, vêtu militairement, tenant une haste de la main droite et un bouclier de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Marti Propugnatori”, (À Mars combattant).

Postume seizes the purple by eliminating Salonin, son of Gallien, of whom he had custody. He reigns over Gaul, Brittany and Spain. Did Postume toy with the idea of conquering the Roman Empire? Gallien, twice, will try to reconquer the "pars occidentalis" of the Empire, without success. Postume will remain in power for nine years, before perishing assassinated for having refused the sack of Mainz, a city which supported Lélien.
