Très bel exemplaire sur un flan régulier mais un peu court, avec un droit complet mais un revers un peu décentré. Patine irisée de collection ancienne

Obverse description : Tête à gauche ornée de globules, avec une croisette et un V devant le visage ; grènetis.

Reverse

Reverse legend : PSEUDO LÉGENDE COMPOSÉE DE GLOBULES.

Reverse description : A entre une crosse à gauche et une S rétrograde à droite.

Commentary

Si nous n’avons pas retrouvé de denier comparable, il est intéressant de noter le lien avec ce revers et des deniers de Poitiers avec ce A accosté d’une crosse à gauche (B. 3623 attribué à ARINOBERTVS), ou à droite (au nom de GODOLAICVS). Pour ces derniers, le monogramme est proposé à Ansoaldus, évêque de Poitiers à la fin du VIIe siècle..
Although we have not found a comparable denier, it is interesting to note the link with this reverse and the deniers of Poitiers with this A flanked by a crosier on the left (B. 3623 attributed to ARINOBERTVS), or on the right (in the name of GODOLAICVS). For the latter, the monogram is proposed to Ansoaldus, bishop of Poitiers at the end of the 7th century.
