Commentary

Historical background

PLAETORIA

(69-67 BC) Marcus Plætorius Cestianus

Plaetoria the people came from the town of Sabine and was of plebeian origin. We also know, thanks to some money, Marcus Plætorius Cestianus was curule aedile in 67 BC which suggests a patrician membership. The councilors were responsible for ensuring the supply of Rome, the Public games and City Police. It is possible that our currency has taken charge of the organization "Ludi Floral" 67 BC Upon leaving office, the aedile patrician could go to the courthouse that was Marcus Plætorius Cestianus in 66 BC run before the consulate. It does not appear that our money has been entitled to consular splendor. In 51 BC he was condemned as Cicero says (ad. Att. V. 20, 8).
