The federal coinage began in the fifth century BC and ended in 346 BC, when the end of the Second Sacred War, marking the hegemony of Philip II on the region with the direction of 'Amphictyony Delphi. The region, mountainous and poor, was dedicated to Artemis, goddess of the hunt.
