Exemplaire sur un petit flan bien centré des deux côtés avec une faiblesse de frappe sur les légendes. Beaux portraits, en particulier celui d’Otacilia Sévéra. Beau revers. Patine marron foncé

Obverse description : Bustes affrontés de Philippe Ier et d’Otacilia Sévéra ; Philippe est lauré, drapé et cuirassé à gauche, tourné à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière ; Otacilia Sévéra est diadémée et drapée à droite tournée à gauche, vu de trois quarts en avant.

Poids léger. Trou de centrage de chaque côté. Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire reproduit dans l’ouvrage de Varbonov (p. 354, n° 4229).

PHILIPPUS I and OTACILIA SEVERA

(244-249)

Philip I married Marcia Otacilia Severa before his accession to the throne around 230-235. From this union was born a son, Philip in 237. Otacilia Severa received the title of Augusta at the start of the reign in late 244 or early 245. She was closely associated with coinage. After the disappearance of her husband, her fate remains unknown.
