Commentary


Étienne Clavière (1735-1793) est un banquier, homme d'affaires, spéculateur et une personnalité politique de la Révolution française. Il fut en 1790 à l'origine de la création des assignats, suspecté de la fabrication de faux assignats, et devint ministre des Finances, une première fois imposé à Louis XVI jusqu'à sa révocation le 12 juin 1792, une seconde fois d'août 1792 dans le ministère girondin jusqu'à leur chute le 2 juin 1793.
