Reverse legend : FIRME Y FELIZ - POR LA UNION/ 10 SOLES.
Reverse description : La Liberté trônant de face, tenant de la main droite une pique surmontée d'un bonnet phrygien et une palme de la main gauche ; à ses pieds, un bouclier aux armes du Pérou ; à gauche, un bandeau attaché à la pique inscrit en creux LIBERTAD.
Reverse translation : (Stabilité et bonheur pour l'union).
Commentary
C'est la dernière année de frappe pour la pièce de 8 escudos. Ce type ne fut frappé que pendant deux ans en 1862-1863. Une réforme monétaire introduisit la décimalisation en 1863 avec une nouvelle parité : 100 centavos = 10 dineros = 1 sol. La pièce d'or de 10 soles prend le nom de libra.
