Historical background

Parthia - UNITED PARTHIAN - Mithridates II

(123-88 BC)

Mithridates II, one of the greatest kings Parthians, is the son of Artabanus I (127-124 AC).. He began restoring power Parthian Mesopotamia and fixed the border on the Euphrates. He had to continue the struggle against the Scythians and made a protectorate of Sakastan. He consolidated his position in Asia Minor and Armenia intervened to keep the Parthian protectorate. But the last years of his reign were troubled by many usurpations. He was removed by Gotarzes I (AC 95-80)..
