Historical background

Parthia - UNITED PARTHIAN - ARTABAN III

(Ie 80)

Artabanus III is a usurper who rebelled at the beginning of the reign of Pacorus II (77-105). The end of the reign of Vologeses I (51-78) was very troubled. Vologeses II (77-80) and Pacorus rebelled against his authority. Pacorus got rid of Vologeses II first before tackling Artabanus III. Artabanus III is known to the Romans for having supported a pseudo-Nero in the reign of Titus in the region of the Euphrates. Artabanus III was finally removed by Pacorus II.
