Coments on the condition:
Cette monnaie est exceptionnelle. Elle est frappée avec des coins neufs au droit et au revers permettant de découvrir des détails que l’on ne distingue jamais, comme le minuscule grènetis passant entre le visage et les mèches. La monnaie a de nombreuses infimes rayures, principalement visibles au revers au niveau de la tête du cheval mais il n’en reste pas moins un important brillant de frappe. La monnaie conserve également son coupant d’origine. La tranche a une pliure à 7h. Exemplaire de toute beauté et d’une qualité rarement rencontrée en ventes

Commentary


Nous n’avons pas retrouvé les coins pour ce type qui est exceptionnel dans le traitement du droit. Les grènetis séparant les mèches de cheveux sont cependant connues dans ce monnayage. Le type est très proche de la monnaie BN 7788.

Parisii (Paris Region)

(Second - first century BC)

The Parisii were a small but powerful people whose oppidum was Lutèce. Related to Sénons the Parisii and the city would have emancipated their guardianship, relatively late, after the defeat of Arverne 121 BC The wealth of Parisii rested on the river Seine and control of confluence with the Marne Bièvre the Ourcq and the Oise. Caesar chose Lutèce, in 53 BC to convene the meeting of Gauls. The Parisii were among the first to respond to the call of Vercingetorix, the following year, in 52 BC and they provided a contingent of eight thousand men for the army of relief. Monitored by Labienus, friend and legate of Caesar, the territory of the Parisii was the scene of recent fighting which opposed Gauls and Romans. Finally, the chief aulerque Camulogenus was defeated and killed near Lutetia. Caesar (Bg. VI, 3, VII, 4, 34, 57, 75). Kruta: 36, 40, 46, 68, 365, 368.
