Exemplaire sur un petit flan irrégulier bien centré des deux côtés. Belle tête de la nymphe au droit. Joli revers de style fin, bien venu à la frappe. Belle patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Poids léger. Ce type semble frappé sur un étalon persique au lieu d’éginétique traditionnellement.

PAPHLAGONIA - SINOPE

(415-365 BC)

Sinope, a colony of Miletus, was founded in the 7th century BC. Located on the northern coast of Pont-Euxin, a maritime city, it was one of the most important ports in the region. The introduction of the new type with the head of the nymph Sinope corresponds to the installation of the democratic regime in Sinope in 453 BC by the Athenians. The satrap Datames seized Sinope around 375 BC.
