Droit complet et bien centré. Revers sur un flan un peu court. Belle patine sombre et brillante, très nette au droit, mais légèrement piquée au revers

Obverse description : Tête à gauche, les cheveux entourés d'un cordon perlé, une sorte d'épi accosté d'un annelet devant le visage, une esse derrière la nuque, trois petits annelets autour du cou, grènetis.

Reverse description : Cheval libre galopant à gauche, un annelet pointé au-dessus de la croupe, légende au-dessus ; une rouelle sous le cheval.
Commentary
Le portrait est particulièrement beau sur cet exemplaire. Au revers, la rouelle a bien un moyeu central mais les rayons ne sont pas très nets.

GALLIA BELGICA PAGUS CATUSLUGI - Sanctuary of BOIS L'ABBÉ (Seine-Maritime)
(1st century BC)
Already in 1977, S. Scheers evoked the idea of a coinage of Pagus for the type VIIRICIVS (op. cit.p.129-130) which recalls the finds of the sanctuary of Bois l'Abbé in Eu (Seine-Maritime) (LPD. p.32-45) where 161 pieces of the 4 classes were discovered and analyzed. These coins, found in large quantities, doubtless constituted cash with a regional vocation (LPD. 1984, p. 65-92). A plaque found on the spot in 1965, near the theater evokes a pagus Catuslugi already mentioned by Pliny (HN. IV, 31).
