Flan large et scyphate avec le revers concave. Droit de frappe molle. Fine patine verte légèrement piquée

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Obverse description : Tête à gauche, les cheveux entourés d’un cordon perlé, une sorte d'épi accosté d’un annelet devant le visage, grènetis.
Reverse
Reverse legend : VIIRICIVS.
Reverse description : Cheval libre galopant à gauche, un annelet au-dessus de la croupe ; un gros annelet centré surmonté d’un petit annelet sous le cheval, un autre petit annelet entre les pattes avant.
Commentary
Le revers est particulièrement bien centré ; la légende VIIRICIVS est presque complète et on y distingue les différents annelets, sous la tête et au-dessus de la rouelle, entre les jambes du cheval.

Historical background
GALLIA BELGICA PAGUS CATUSLUGI - Sanctuary of BOIS L'ABBÉ (Seine-Maritime)

Already in 1977, S. Scheers evoked the idea of a coinage of Pagus for the type VIIRICIVS (op. cit.p.129-130) which recalls the finds of the sanctuary of Bois l'Abbé in Eu (Seine-Maritime) (LPD. p.32-45) where 161 pieces of the 4 classes were discovered and analyzed. These coins, found in large quantities, doubtless constituted cash with a regional vocation (LPD. 1984, p. 65-92). A plaque found on the spot in 1965, near the theater evokes a pagus Catuslugi already mentioned by Pliny (HN. IV, 31).
