Commentary
A rare instance where the reverse is signed, as well as the obverse, this is the die already used in 1756 and made by Jean Duvivier. Feuardent only mentions this token as a restrike; our example is contemporary, particularly given its clockwise axis. The bust is also specific to this token, and it is likely that the Notaries of Bordeaux commissioned it from the engraver for their exclusive use.
