Excess the Emperor cause at the beginning of the year 68 a wave of discontent which culminated in the rebellion of Vindex in Gaul, Galba and Otho Spain. Nero is declared a public enemy by the Senate. He committed suicide on June 9 not to fall alive into the hands of his enemies.
