Il existe un ouvrage “Réglemens du Concert des Amateurs de Paris, arrêtés, en assemblée générale, le 15 brumaire an VIII “ dont on peut déduire la fondation de cette société en 1799. Il s’agit pourtant probablement de la reconstitution d’une société du même nom “Le Concert des Amateurs de Paris avait été fondé en 1769 par François-Joseph Gossec, avant d'être repris en 1773 par le chevalier de Saint-George, violoniste et compositeur, métis d'origine guadeloupéenne, franc-maçon comme Gossec et comme Giroust. L'association parisienne de concerts disparut en 1780.”.
