Obverse description : Archer agenouillé à droite, tirant à l’arc, reposant sur une base ; date à l’exergue ; dans le champ à gauche, armes de Louis II surmontées d’une couronne ; au-dessus de l’archer : ESSAI.

Reverse description : Épée posée verticalement le tranchant en haut sur un écu aux armes de Grimaldi ; entouré par REMB. JUSQU’AU 31 Xbre 1926.

Commentary


Pour le type normal, 150.000 pièces furent fabriquées par l’atelier de Poissy (Seine-et-Oise) et le même nombre en 1926. Pour 1924, 4 essais en or et 4 autres en argent furent aussi frappés sans oublier douze exemplaires pour le métal adopté. Comme l’illustre ce piéfort, un nombre assez réduit de piéforts ont été frappés.
For the normal type, 150,000 pieces were produced by the Poissy workshop (Seine-et-Oise) and the same number in 1926. For 1924, 4 gold and 4 silver tests were also struck, not forgetting twelve examples for the adopted metal. As this piéfort illustrates, a fairly small number of piéforts were struck
