Commentary

The pezzetta corresponds to a coin of 3 sols, 36 deniers, 12 liards or 6 blancs. Monaco in the early 1730s needed small fractional coins and the knight Grimaldi, who administered the principality in the name of Honoré III, had small quantities of pezzetta, half-pezzetta, dardennes and liards minted.
