Commentary


Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées.
Pour cet atelier, Maximin a les traits de Constantin Ier. Constantin Ier, Licinius Ier et Maximin II sont associés pour cette émission. GENIO POP ROM est le seul revers fabriqué pour les trois Augustes. Tous les autres types sont frappés seulement au nom de Constantin Ier.

August (310-04/313)

Maximin II, nephew of Galerius, Caesar became May 1 305. After the death of Constantius I Chlorine 25 July 306, he did not become august and remained subject to Galerius. Following the conference Carnuntum in November 308, it is only Filius Augustorum while Licinius I becomes directly august. It was not until the following year that Maximin II will take the title of august. After the death of Galerius in May 311, it is the oldest surviving tetrarchs. He quarreled with Licinius and Constantine, while he tries to get closer to Maxence. After 312, Licinius turns against him and he is finally removed in 313.
