Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Maxentius Pius Felix Augustus”, (L’empereur césar Maxence pieux heureux auguste).

Reverse legend : CONSERV - VRB SVAE// H|-// REP.
Reverse description : Temple hexastyle avec fronton triangulaire décoré de statues et orné d'une couronne ; à l'intérieur, statue de Rome casquée et drapée, assise sur un bouclier à gauche, tenant un globe et une haste.
Reverse translation : “Conservatores Urbis Suae”, (Les Protecteurs de leur Ville).

Augustus

Maxentius, son of Maximian, was proclaimed Caesar on October 28, 306 in Rome, then took the title of Filius Augustorum. In 307, he was proclaimed august, controlling Italy and Africa with the help of Maximian. In 308, he lost Africa with the revolt of Alexander.
