Obverse description : Écu écartelé aux 1 et 4 de l’ordre, aux 2 et 3 de la famille Pinton, couronné orné de fleurons.
Obverse translation : (Frêre Emmanuel Pinto, grand maître ).

Reverse legend : NON - SVRREXIT MAIOR.
Reverse description : Saint Jean-Baptiste à droite, drapé, tenant le drapeau de l’ordre la main droite, à gauche un agneau. À l’exergue T. XXXX (pour 30 tari).
Reverse translation : (de l’Hôpital et du Saint-Sépulcre de Jérusalem ; 30 tari).

Commentary


Ces pièces de 30 tari furent frappées entre 1756 et 1759 puis en 1761. Cette pièce a été montée et on ne peux malheureusement plus lire l’année d’émission.

(1741-1773)

Emmanuel Pinto succeeded Raymond Despuig (1736-1741) as Grand Master of the Sovereign Order of Malta. The Order of Hospitallers was founded in Jerusalem in 1099. Its seat was located in Malta from 1530 to 1798 and has been in Rome since 1834..
