Historical background

MAISON DU ROI - GREAT STABLES

The term stable appears in the 16th century as a place used to house the squires and the horses for which they were responsible. The King's Stables were under the responsibility of the Grand Esquire and led by a Governor of the Pages or Esquire. Since 1550, to become a page in the Great Stable of the King, it was necessary to be noble, to be around 15 years old, to be well made and known to have good morals.
