Coments on the condition:
Exemplaire frappé sur un petit flan ovale et irrégulier avec de petites marques de manipulation sur la tranche, mais parfaitement centré des deux côtés avec un portrait magnifique. Le revers est de haut relief avec tous les détails de la Niké bien visibles. Cet exemplaire a conservé la plus grande partie de sa fraîcheur de frappe

Obverse description : Tête casquée d'Athéna à droite, coiffée du casque corinthien à aigrette, orné d'un serpent ; les cheveux tombant sur la nuque en mèches mêlées.

Reverse


Reverse description : Niké debout à gauche, les ailes déployées, tenant de la main droite une couronne et de la gauche la stylis ; dans le champ à gauche, un monogramme ; derrière la Niké, une double hache (labrys ou bipenne).
Reverse legend : ALEXANDROU/ (KH).

Philip, son of Philip II and the half-brother of Alexander, was not entirely in his right mind. On the death of the conqueror and faced with the lack of power, in order to maintain the fiction of the unity of the Empire, he was proclaimed king, but in fact he had no power. He was assassinated at the instigation of Olympias, Alexander's mother, in 316 BC.
