Coinage in the name of Alexander III the Great type

Demetrius, is the son of Antigone le Borgne who was killed at the battle of Ipsos in 301 BC. He crushed the fleet of Ptolemy at the battle of Salamis in Cyprus (The statue of the Victory of Samothrace). A great strategist, he received the nickname of Poliorcète (the besieger). King of Macedonia after the death of Cassander, in 294 BC, he was dethroned by Lysimachus and Pyrrhus and died a prisoner of Antiochus in Syria (283 BC)..
