LYDIA - PHILADELPHIA

(2nd-3rd century AD)

Philadelphia of Lydia was founded by Attalus II Philadelphus of Pergamum (159-138 BC) and took the name of its founder. The city was located southeast of Sardis and was placed in the valley of Koagamis. The coinage in the imperial period begins under Caligula (Caius Caesar) and ends under Valerian I.
