Commentary
Bref... énigme.
This logic of plundering to enrich is that of the tokens of the royal Treasury who see the taxes collected as so many investments in the wealth of the country. However, it does not seem that this token could come from this administration. We find this obverse on a token from Burgundy where it is interpreted as Burgundy stripping itself of a large contribution to the Treasury out of love for the king but also on the reverse of the tokens of Laballe, notary at Châtelet, Lerouge 501 and Feuardent 3816. In short... enigma
